Writing

Taking this writing class has helped me improve my writing and sentence structure; I do see items that I still need to work on with the feedback from other peers which has helped me. Have doing all these different types of essays have strengthen my way of doing the essays and the final draft of them, If I could I would go back and try to focus and do more rough drafts of my essays to possibly get a better grade on them but it is the information that I know now that I can carry on for my next classes and succeed with them.

I do believe that students do write papers differently and can write possibly only two rough drafts and be able to have the final essay done with the third paper and get an A on it, I know that I have to at least do four rough drafts before I can start to think about the final draft. I like getting the feedback from other peers even if it is sometimes harsh because it does let me know what to change and think about to write a better paper.

College

I came to college because I had known I wanted to continue my schooling to get into the field of becoming a Vet Tech. I did find out the first semester though of being in college that you do have to attend school every day you have class and do the homework in order to complete college and succeed. College isn’t for everyone, sometimes people just become students to get the checks which are wrong and then don’t go to the classes and then end up dropping out. I am glad that I decided to attend college and my degree because it will be doing something that I love to do, which is taken care of animals. It has been longer then I thought it would take me but I am getting it done and succeeding.

I am ready to go to the next semester for school and tackle the next obstacles that I will have, I know that the classes push you to the best of your obilities and then do help you if you need it in order to succeed. I have the ambition to finish college and not even think about dropping out, I know that if i do fail a class that I will have to take it again and just work harder and pass it the next time. I know that nothing will bring me down or stop me.

Research Papers

I love doing research papers because it allows me to do a subject that I like or know a lot about and can inform people on it more. I chose a topic that I am really passionate about and care really about, I chose the topic of Pit bulls and how they are misread and have a bad rep because of what people just assume of them.  I have two other blogs about how I feel about the breed and don’t want to give you the same information that I have in the other blogs also.

Fallacies

There are fallacies all over the world that are wrong, you see all of the ads or posters of models that are toothpick skinny and have everyone thinking that is the ideal image of someone when it isn’t. The axe commercials also always have the “hottest” actor with the best fit body on it trying to sell the product and then guys think that after they buy the product that it make them hotter and or more popular. I don’t think this is the right way to sell products but that is the main way consumers do it now and its sad, it has young teenagers also trying to fit that one look of the model into their own lives and has some kids become anorexic.

Don't Judge before you know

I had an earlier post that was about McDonalds that had posted an ad with chicken nuggets and a pit bull saying which one you would choose to eat. I have a lot of respect for the breed not only because I have owned pit bulls since I was little but because no one really knows how loving and caring the breed can be until they own one themselves or a friend/family member does. The history behind the pit bull is that they came into the world around the same time as Mastiffs did and they also get the same rep as the Pit bulls. They were used for protection from animals and people that would be trying to harm their family or friends, people then saw how loyal of a breed they are and either had them down the path of fighting or being a loving/caring animal in their home. This is the picture of my pup that just turned three years old. Her name is Storm and she has never bitten anything in her lifetime, I love her to death she is like a kid to me.

The Glass Castle

The book The Glass Castle was a good book to read, every sentence had me pulled in even more and reading till the book finished. I would encourage people who haven’t read the book to defiantly read it, the book will tug at your heart and know how some people live and hard it is on them throughout the life to have possible dysfunctional families. The book just keeps your reading wondering what will happen next and if everyone will end up being ok. I don’t want to tell you too much about the book, I do want to encourage people to read it though because it was an awesome book.

Overwhelming

Overwhelming

At this point in the end of the semester I do feel overwhelmed with all of the homework and finals that we do have. I do end up setting everything else in life a side and just focusing on school until finals and school are over with for the semester. This school semester has gone by really quick and I didn’t expect it would, I have learned a lot from this writing class. I have improved my writing a lot by learning to watch my spelling and sentence structure.

When I begin to feel overwhelmed I do feel like I won't be able to finish my work to the best of my ability. I know the items I do need to work on with writing is keeping on the one topic and not rambling on to make the essay or letter longer. I do feel this is how I look when I get stressed out, I do find ways to calm myself down, like surrond myself by people that love me and will encourage me.

Functional or dysfunctional family

I believe that living in a household that has a family member drinking heavily and possibly having an alcoholic in it; it would lead into a dysfunctional family. The reasons being that family member would be coming home at any times of the night or even morning and possibly being violent. It is proven that 1 out of 5 kids in America are also affected by having a family member that is an alcoholic in the family; they tend to not focus in school, not to have friends and to also have a depression.

                I would say that a functional family would be there and support a family member if they were going through those troubles and try to get them help, which would show the love and support that is actually within the family. They wouldn’t be spending their spare money on liquor or things that they don’t need, they would use all of it on items that they need for them or their family.

Mcdonals Ad

Mcdonald's had an ad asking what would you trust more touching?, it was a picture of a kid grabbing chicken nuggets and then the other picture was of a someone petting a Pit Bull. This is the ad to the right, it didn't make me happy at all because I am an owner of a Pit Bull and grew up around them and have never been bitten or even growled by one.

Most people do judging of Pit Bulls from past stories that they hear about the breed being in fights and etc. It really is all upon who raises them and how they are treated when they are raised.

Social Networking

I think everyone in the world at this point is always using social networking websites, for example Facebook and/or Twitter. When something happens in anyones life or around their own life everyone in society seems to always put it on one of the social networking devices instead of telling someone with a phone call.

I use Facebook myself and always use to be on it when it first had been established, now I go on about two times a week and normally only check when my friends and family have been up to and then maybe update my status sometimes.

My Career Choice

Ever since I was little I have had a love for animals, I always loved taking care of them and making sure they are healthy.  I grew up with two dogs which were medium sized, one named Mayo and the other named Diablo meaning devil because he would always get into trouble, then one cat named Flosi  and one hamster named Nanook. I would always exercise all of them and make sure they all got their breakfast and supper.

I made my choice of going into the Vet tech program when I got into my freshman year of high school all I had to then think about is what college to attend to.  I looked through multiple colleges and then chose Rochester community and Technical College to attend because it is right in Rochester and then I can continue with the job that I had.

I would like to then further my education after getting my degree for Vet tech into a full veterinarian. This would be a total of eight or more years to complete but I know that I would have the strive to accomplish it. I can’t wait until I graduate because then I will be doing something every day that I love doing.

My Great Grandma Flo

My Great Grandma Flo is 99 years old and is in a nursing home now because of breaking her hip falling down in her home.  I always remember going over to her house when I was little going over to her home and I was step in and immediately smell chocolate chip cookies that would just melt in my mouth as soon as I took a bite. When I first step into her home I would always notice a wooden owl clock on her wall that would always go off to the hour and make a “who who” sound. Her going into the nursing home made me really sad the day that I found out, I went in there right away and noticed the smell of the nursing home of everything being sterile and clean.

We would always go for a walk when I would be in town. The paths that we took would amaze me with the views of the lake Pepin with all the boats the size of buildings on it. The sidewalks would have old cracks in them indicating how long that path way had been there. The sun would shine down onto the lake and just shimmer across it, it was such an amazing sight.

My uncle managed a restraunt that was called The Port Of Call, we would end our day there with a slushie for myself and then a glass of wine for her. Everyone there would welcome us when we walked in saying hi and sometimes even giving hugs, it put the biggest smile on my face.

Insperation Song

The song that inspires me the most right now is I don’t want this night to end by Luke Bryan. Every time I listen to this song it just reminds me of where I have came in life and that I was the girl that was having those good nights that I didn’t want to end but they needed to because of me needing to go to work and to continue to succeed in my life. I have came far in life and I see myself as the country girl that is in this music video that is having fun but knows what is best in the end.

I also was the girl that had the pickup truck that would just rock out to country every time I got into the truck. This song reminds me of myself also because I would always love to have fun and be with my boyfriend that I have had since high school, he has inspired me to do what I want in life and what I feel is right. I had put everything I had into that truck because it was considered my "baby", I did everything to keep that truck in the best condition I could.

Country songs really inspire me and help me do homework, its something about the lyrics and the melody that calms me down and relaxes me enough to have to do my homework and do it to the best of my ablility. As I was writing this blog I was listening to a bunch of songs of the country genre.

Expressing myself through writing

Writing has always been a passion for me, I use writing to express my feelings and find it easier. I have always been able to tell stories through experiences that I have had myself and then let other people read it and let me know what I need to improve on for my writing. I always like to go to my table right next to my fireplace and turn it on and start writing until I have everything on the paper.

The only troubles I have with writing are having the sentences flow together in a good order so that the reader doesn’t get confused while reading it. I feel like I lose the reader before the end of the story, That is one thing I would like to improve in my writing so that I don’t lose my readers. Along with other writing concerns that I have I would like all the feedback that I can get so that I can improve myself.

            When reading other writers work I do get ideas for my own writing so that I can improve.  I read a lot of books and writings from other people so that I can get an idea of other genres also, so this semester I would like to improve and get all the feedback that I can so that my writing can be the best of my ability.
